Selecting Russell Security as Your Security Provider
Press + for answer

When should a business consider hiring a private security company?

To be candid: While every business or organization has its own unique security challenges, many of our clients decide to hire private security out of necessity. Either they have received specific threats, need to meet specific fire and/or safety requirements, or need to reduce/prevent theft or other criminal activity. To address these needs, Russell Security (RS) provides personalized security plans and reliable guard services. Our guards can stay at an assigned post or perform regular patrols, and complete a variety of duties, such as building lock up, access control, parking enforcement, truck inspections, and more. Also, RS has a security camera and monitoring group that can consult with your team about needed coverage vs. the applicable configuration of on-site cameras and our monitoring services, if desired.

How will you customize/personalize your guard services for my business?

We start by providing a free consultation over the phone. During this initial consultation, we are able to get a broad understanding of your security needs. Based upon your needs and budget, we will provide a quote for the guard services and/or offering we think will serve you best. If the quote is accepted, an on-site visit is arranged to ensure that our security plan will sufficiently meet your needs. Once the terms are agreed upon, we finalize the contract. As soon as the contract is signed, we then work with you to establish a more detailed security plan with specific guard-post duties. Additionally, we are always open to adjusting our security plan to better meet your needs. Call us today to learn more.

What truly differentiates Russell Security in terms of offerings?

We address this question in several areas of this section. However, we wish to propose that RS is one of the few security companies that combines security cameras and monitoring services (of all levels of complexity), security guards, mobile patrols, and supportive staffing. Examples of “staffing” include assignment of pool and recreational monitors to maintain the safety and quality of a residential site’s common entertainment and exercise areas, as well as provision of personnel with clerical or custodial skills at your residential or commercial site.

So, the actual full name is “Russell Security and Staffing?” What does “staffing” mean in the name?

We at RS have found that our clients often need an added value of skills in a specific security guard and/or at needs of specific site. So, RS recruits and offers personnel to meet that specific need within range of our main focus--security, safety, and/or property support. Examples of “staffing” include assignment of pool and recreational monitors to maintain the safety and quality of a residential site’s common entertainment and exercise areas, as well as provision of personnel with clerical or custodial skills at your residential or commercial site.

Selection/Training/Supervising of Security Officers

How are your guards selected?

All our guards are carefully selected by our management team. To qualify for an interview, a guard must already hold an active Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and at least a year of experience working for a mid- to large-size company. We typically give priority to applicants who also have experience working for law enforcement, the military, or some type of “good Samaritan” program (e.g., a Neighborhood Watch captain), as well as those who went to school for criminal justice or other related field. Through the interview process, we are able to assess an applicant’s communication skills, professionalism, and competency. Finally, before a guard can be hired, we verify their employment history, check personal references, and make sure that they pass background checks and drug testing.

How are your guards trained?

Our guards have all received training in the fundamentals of private security. This includes legal aspects, power to arrest, observe and report, emergency situations and evacuation procedures, patrol, post order duties, fire watch, public relations, and communication. Once hired, and if applicable, we require that our guards complete another 40 hours of training in specialized private security courses, such as CPR, first aid, retail loss prevention, trespass, search and seizure, safety awareness, conflict management, chemical agents, etc., within the first six months.
Prior to every assignment, our guards are also thoroughly briefed by one of our managers on their responsibilities and expectations. The manager reviews the security plan for the client and their specific post order duties.

What reassurance do I have that your security guard is on site and performing their assigned duties?

To ensure that our guards are on site and on time, we employ a mobile time clock app with geolocation that requires our guards to be within 100 feet of the assigned post in order to be able to check in. Our guards are required to check in at the start of their shift and then every 30 minutes until their shift is over. We also use a system to verify that all their patrols are being made.
Russell Security also deploys real-time, field-reporting systems in order to identify and resolve all keys issues related to security, safety, and parking enforcement.
In addition to our automated systems, our management team performs site visits on a regular basis. During a site inspection visit, a manager looks to verify that our security guard is at his/her post, wearing the proper uniform, and performing their required post duties. We review the daily reports, check for incidents, and confirm that there were no significant changes that might affect the effectiveness of the security plan. All findings are recorded in the “Security Guard Evaluation” form.

How do you supervise your guards?

Our guards are required to check in and out with a dispatcher at the beginning and end of their shift. In addition, our field supervisor conducts random checks on all the guards. RS also uses Detex or a like system, at the request of the client, to assist in the monitoring of the guard. We also offer live monitoring to help monitor the guard and the job site at an additional cost.
